


We’ve explained how to select all items – you have several options, but Command-A is the most convenient one. As a matter of fact, the “intended” purpose of the Click and Drag option is probably to select several contiguous files from a larger group – this is what we’ll explain next. However, when there are many files within a window and you need to scroll down to see them all, this isn’t as efficient.

If you only have a few items to select, this can be a quick way to do this.

Simply click near one of the corners of the window, hold down the button, and drag the pointer to create a selection box which covers every item in that window. You can then click and drag these in the usual way to another folder to copy or move them.Another way to select all files in a location without relying on the keyboard is to use the “Click and Drag” method. In the Finder window below you should see represented all the files in the folder, and any subfolders it contains. Leave the second dropdown as it is, but in the field alongside type two quotes (“”).ĥ. Change the first dropdown on this to read Name. Click the plus button at the right of this new line, which will add another search condition. If you’re attempting to extract just music, for example, then change the Any dropdown to something appropriate.Ĥ. If you’re attempting to extract ALL files then leave this as it is. This will add a new line of search conditions reading Kind: All. Click the plus (+) button alongside the Save button at the top right of the window. Click the name of the folder from which you want to extract files, which will be alongside.ģ.
